London, Toronto, Windsor
Week 1- London
Well it was a rainy start to our mission, but we adapted, but handing our umbrella's
along with the Gospel of John. Then the sun came out, we handed out cold water with
the Gospel and asking people what they think of God , they always have a story to tell,
as it seems we are the only ones in the world who will listen. We had friends join us
this week to help out, thanks Al and Kirstin. We have a list of people to pray for from
this week. We would love it if you could join in praying for them as well.
Dominique - Prayer for family, for a job, and just general direction in her life.
Charles - Had been hurt by religious people before, so he feels God hates him.
Pam - Doesn't think God is evident in her life or the world of today.
Grandpa Evans - He would like us to pray for the people he meets daily, and just that
he may see the best in each of them. He believes there must be a God out there
somewhere, but doesn't think he fits in to any churches.
Scott Tyler Jones - He believes, and speaks so highly of God, and believes God has
him here for a reason, but he inst sure why. He would like prayer for all the needy that
they would find success in there lives, and that he finds what person happiness
means in his life, through Christ.
Grant - Wants to pray for his parents, and all his friends who he went to war with. He
feels he was so blessed to be raised in the church, and his faith is very strong.
Week 2 - Toronto
Tues - Well only 2 days in, we have had an awesome week so far, and some cool
experiences too. Monday was a day of pure searching, we got in to town later so we
just took a walk looking to see where the majority of the needy hangout and figuring
things for accommodations. Slept at Motel 6, and headed back into Toronto in the
morn, as soon as we Hit the Streets we met some interesting characters. The first
guy we ran into only had one thing that he was solid on, that was not telling us his
name, but he did open up about God when we bought him a sub. Here are some more
of the characters we met today. Please pray for them.
Billy - We found this guy sitting there reading his Gideons new testament, and he was
so strong in his faith. When asked what we could pray for him, he said to pray for all
those who are helpless and who don't have hope in Christ.
We ran into 2 different Dans - they both have faith in Christ and were content with life,
even though they had nothing, they were content with Christ alone. Dan (1) said that
he talks to God daily because He is a great listener.
Eric - Had immense faith in God, attends 3 bible studies a week, and asked that we
pray for his mother and her failing health.
Eugene - Believes in God, and Said he didn't require prayer for himself. But pray for
him.
Frank - Just pray for his Mother, and pray for his family in general as he has 19
siblings all with kids, and he as trouble keeping contact with them. He had just spent
all this money to travel to Montreal for his Mothers funeral.
Wed & Thursday-
Warm and Sweaty, how lovely eh? Well it was, the warm days allow the needy to
be on the streets. In these two days we had an amazing response to our ministry, with
lots of people opening up to us, and appreciating our ministry. Here are some of the
characters we ran into on the streets, keep in mind these are only a few of the people
we talk to, there is a large number of people who don't want to give there names, or
say they have no prayer requests.
Nathan - He believes there is a higher power (God), but is not to sure weather he is
quite there, he is searching his heart he says, so pray that the Gospel we presented
to him may speak into his searching process
David - Now this guy is awesome, we talked with him both Wed, and Thurs and he
sits in front of a building where a piece of the architecture looks like a cross, he
loves the Lord dearly, and says life is great, he looks at the positive in every bad
situation that comes into his life, so pray that he continue to see the Lord in all, and
continue to be a positive character.
Hubert - Pray for better days for him, that business picks up, as in recent days
people haven't been giving lately.
Dre (Alex) - Pray for him and his dog that they will continue to be provided for.
Bryan - Wants to pray for the world, that things work out for the best.
Brian - This guy believes God provides every single thing that is in front of him,
every single dollar he gets in a day he feels it was placed in his hat by God himself.
Pray that he may spread that thought with the rest of his people, and the people he
runs into daily.
Butch - Would like prayer for good business and that God provides for his needs.
Frosty - Wants to pray for the nice people he meets, and who give him funds.
Joe- He has never really though about God before, but now he said he is very willing
to check out the Gospel that we gave him, and is interested in learning more. Pray for
him, and his friend who was with him, Steve.
- Nickname (Jesus) - Pray that he find a place to stay, and use the washroom, as he
wanted to start going right in front of us on the street.
Week 3 - Windsor/ London
So we hit the streets Monday to find not one person willing to talk with us or even
tell there name. Tues we spoke with a great guy named Rob, so since things were
going real slow we decided it would probably be best if we maybe did London too, so
Eli and I (Corey) went back to London, and Christian continued down in Windsor. Eli
and I had friends join us on Thurs and Fri, thanks Kev and Chantal. Here are some of
the people that we talked to for the rest of the week.
I ran into my good pal Scott Tyler Jones again - things are not doing good for Scott,
he got kicked out of the Salvation army where he was staying, and so now has been
sleeping on benches for a week and a half. He would like us to pray for someone to
come into his life and to take him home, so that he can have a bases to start a new
life.
-Cliff
- Mikey - Most thankful guy ever, and was reading the Gospel before i even walked
away, and when i walked by later he was still reading it.
- Garth - Pray that he may humble himself enough to ask for help, as he doesn't like
to think that he needs help, but he does.
- Al - Believes in God and believes God works in mysterious ways, and is faithful to
provide
- Chris - Pray for his health as it is quickly failing.
- Joe - Believes, but doesn't like to read, so pray that God can speak to him in
different ways.
- Tony - Believes, and would like us to pray for a job for him
- Bernie - He was so upset with what he had become, he was crying as he told me
things, and cried out that i not leave him there alone, so i sat with him for quite a
while, we need to pray or his health as his back is all bent out of shape, and he cant
walk all the way to the shelter, he has been on the streets for 8 years, his wife left
him, and he is just sick and tired of the hurt , not only physical but emotional that he
goes through daily. He prays and believes in God, but says he never sees answers to
those prayers.
- Betty, Pete, Jack, Shango (Drum Guy)
Week 4 (London) - Winding down, we did missions only a few days this week in
London, but we did have some awesome experiences here as well. We would like to
thank our friends who came along to help this week ; Emily, Alannah, Jon, Jeff, thank
you all. We would like to thank weekly all the prayers from all of you our families,
friends and churches (Riverside , and Eastwood Baptist) Overall we all had an
amazing time, and God really spoke into each of our lives in a different way, heres how
:
Corey : Through a fellow David (Toronto) God really spoke to me in the way that made
me realize how we need to appreciate just life itself. This guy David, woke up
everyday on the streets of Toronto by either a police officer, or someone just kicking
him to tell him to get up, yet he would have the greatest day in the world. David sits in
front of the same building everyday, and hidden in the architecture of the building is
a cross, he looks to that as a reminder of the hope he has in Christ everyday. Which
was such an encouragement for me to wake every morning, and no matter how bad
the day may seem to be happy cause my hope in Christ.
